OUR WILD NEIGHBORS

There is an abundance of wildlife in this peaceful valley. And thanks to environmental and conservation efforts, huge swaths of land are preserved for animal habitats. Among the species that you may encounter (best appreciated from a distance), are: black bear, mountain lion, coyote, wolf, mule deer, elk, otter, fox, marmot, mink, beaver, and of course, birds of many feathers. Thanks to ecology and just plain good luck, there are no poisonous snakes in our area at all.

BALD EAGLES

Aspen Glen is home to two adult bald eagles who raise their young eaglets in their massive nests wedged in trees along the banks of the Roaring Fork River.

DEER, ELK & MOOSE

These graceful and majestic animals roam freely throughout Aspen Glen and surrounding areas.

GEESE & DUCKS

While there are dozens of waterfowl species common to Aspen Glen, the impressive Trumpeter Swan and Canadian Goose both migrate to our valley seasonally.

BLACK BEAR

Current counts estimate their numbers in Colorado as somewhere around 19,000. While usually roaming the back country, they can sometimes be seen by the river and anywhere they can find berries.
